Contract Redlining

Redlining is the process of marking up a document to show suggested changes. In the legal world, this is a fundamental part of contract negotiation. RAIA Contract digitizes and automates this process, providing a clear and efficient way to review AI-generated revisions. The platform's redlining feature is designed to be both powerful and intuitive, giving you full control over the final document.

How Redlining Works in RAIA Contract

When an AI Agent processes your document, it doesn't just return a block of revised text. Instead, it returns a version with tracked changes, which are then visually represented as redlines. This is what you see in the "Redlined Version" of the review interface.

  • Additions: Text that the AI has added is typically shown in a distinct color (e.g., green) and underlined.

  • Deletions: Text that the AI has removed is shown as struck-through.

This visual representation allows you to see at a glance exactly what the AI has changed, making the review process significantly faster and more accurate than manually comparing two documents.

The Side-by-Side Review Interface

The core of the redlining experience is the side-by-side review interface. This screen is intelligently designed to facilitate a seamless review workflow:

  • Original Document: On one side, you have the original, unaltered text of your document. This serves as a constant reference point.

  • Redlined Document: On the other side, you have the version with the AI's suggested changes clearly marked as redlines.

This dual-pane view allows you to compare the original text with the suggested revisions in context, ensuring that you can make informed decisions about each change.

Interacting with Redlines

RAIA Contract provides a set of tools to interact with the redlined changes:

  • Change Navigation: You can easily jump from one change to the next, ensuring that you don't miss any suggestions.

  • Accept/Reject: For each change, you have the option to either accept it, which incorporates the change into the final text, or reject it, which discards the suggestion and keeps the original text.

  • Change Popovers: Clicking on a specific change often reveals a popover with more detailed information, such as the reason for the change if the AI provides one.

The Importance of Segments

The redlining feature is made possible by the platform's use of segments. When you upload a document, it is broken down into smaller, manageable chunks (paragraphs, clauses, etc.). The AI reviews the document segment by segment, and the redlines are applied at this granular level. This is why the review interface feels so precise and easy to navigate.

By providing a clear, interactive, and context-rich redlining experience, RAIA Contract transforms contract review from a tedious, error-prone task into a fast, accurate, and controlled process. The next article will delve deeper into the concept of Segments and how they power this functionality**.
